What is Self Storage?

Self storage is an uncomplicated solution for meeting personal or business storage space requirements. You rent storage compartments that are available in various sizes. Whether as temporary storage or permanent storage space - self storage offers a secure, uncomplicated way to store items outside your own four walls. With customised rental times and convenient access 7 days a week, this service is perfectly tailored to your needs. In addition to our location in Zuffenhausen, you also have the option of renting a storage unit at numerous other MyPlace locations in Germany.

How Much Does Self Storage Cost?

The rent for a Self Storage compartment is calculated as a fixed price and depends on the size of the compartment and the current availability. Invoices are issued every four weeks. A deposit of six weeks' rent must also be paid at the start of the rental period, which will of course be refunded in full once the unit has been returned in good condition.

You can pay the first rent and the deposit on site in cash, by EC card or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club). If you conclude your contract online, you can pay by instant bank transfer or credit card. Subsequent rentals can be paid conveniently by direct debit, bank transfer or also in cash or by EC or credit card.

How Does the Rental Process Work?

The first step in renting a storage unit is to choose the right size to suit your requirements. Once you have made your decision, you can conclude the rental contract either directly on site or conveniently online. After a minimum term of two weeks, the rental contract continues indefinitely and can be cancelled at any time with one week's notice.

Immediately after signing the contract, you will receive a personal access code that gives you daily access to your storage unit from 06:00 to 22:00. Would you like to be even more independent? With our practical self check-in machines, you can also rent a storage unit outside opening hours or at weekends and move into it immediately. You will receive the appropriate lock directly at the machine so that your storage unit is available immediately - without any waiting times.

Is my Property Insured with MyPlace?

As with a rented flat, the contents of a rented storage unit should also be insured accordingly, as ‘homeowners’ are only liable for damage to the building. MyPlace therefore recommends taking out insurance for the stored items. This can be done either through your own household insurance or through the insurance offered by us.

Our compartment insurance is offered in co-operation with DONAU Versicherung and provides cover for stored items up to a value of € 4,000 - if required, also for higher amounts, up to the value of goods specified in the rental agreement. The insurance covers damage caused by fire, burglary, vandalism, water damage and forces of nature. However, cash, stamps, gold, silver and jewellery are excluded from the insurance cover. The insurance can be taken out directly as part of the rental contract.
